Book editor of literary fiction and narrative nonfiction, dedicated to helping writers make their work as strong as it can be.

I’m a freelance book editor living in Brooklyn. I got my start in publishing as an associate editor at Counterpoint/Soft Skull Press, where I worked for five years. Out on my own since 2010, I collaborate with authors, literary agents, and independent publishers on a range of projects, with a focus on literary fiction and narrative nonfiction, especially memoirs. I enjoy working with both established and first-time authors, and I’m comfortable operating in a traditional publishing framework as well as with authors exploring other paths toward publication. As an editor, I strive to be the best reader I possibly can be for the writers I work with: thoughtful, constructive, clear-eyed, sympathetic, and supportive. My editorial approach is flexible, with plenty of communication throughout. If you’re a writer who could benefit from a fresh outside eye on your work, a detailed critique, or a chat about the publishing process, I am here to help.
